Become a Patron

Envisaged by P.D. James as a way for successful writers to give something back, the RSL Patron scheme enables our charitable work supporting the development of aspiring writers with awards and grants as well as inspiring literacy and creativity through our Schools Outreach programme.

Good books have the power to challenge prejudice and transform lives. They provoke debate and provide comfort, entertainment, companionship and information. I support the RSL so that everyone can have access to good books – now and in the future.

Patrons enjoy a special programme of events throughout the year while providing vital support to our core charitable work. Patrons receive a number of exclusive invitations to parties, such as the RSL Ondaatje Prize dinner in May, and other RSL and partner events throughout the year.

The Patron scheme

There are two levels of Patrons, one at £500 per year and one at £1,000.
