The Royal Society of Literature is committed to supporting readers and writers at all stage of their career. As part of this we work with state secondary schools and RSL Fellows to provide inspirational author visits. In partnership with the educational charity First Story we take 12 writers into schools each year across the UK. Forthcoming speakers include Sebastian Faulks, Andrew Motion and Kamila Shamsie.
Another key area of our educational programme are RSL/Booker Prize Foundation Masterclasses through which we provide the best value one-off courses in the country. This programme, running since 2011, has seen a class on rewriting with Jim Crace, creating strong characters with Bernardine Evaristo and the evocation of place with Colin Thubron.
