Sarah is a translator of diverse French-speaking voices. Her work spans literary fiction for all ages, as well as memoir, hip-hop lyrics, graphic novels and picture books. Authors include Faïza Guène, Gaël Faye, Alain Mabanckou, Daniel Pennac and Alexandre Dumas. She has twice received the Scott Moncrieff prize and the Marsh award. In 2022 she was appointed Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for services to literature. Sarah also develops multilingual ‘out of the book’ performances for the Edinburgh International Book Festival. A Clore Leadership alumnus and lifelong educator, Sarah co-founded Translation Nation and Translators in Schools in association with the Stephen Spender Trust; and she directed the inaugural Free the Word! festival for International PEN. Sarah is a Royal Literary Fund Bridge Fellow, a mentor for emerging translators with the National Centre for Writing and a former co-chair for English PEN Translates
