Christopher Hope’s novels include Kruger’s Alp, winner of the Whitbread  Prize for  Fiction; Serenity House, shortlisted for the Booker Prize, My Mothers Lovers and, most recently, Jimfish. He has published several  collections of  stories and poems and  is a frequent contributor to the BBC. A graduate of the universities of Natal and the Witwatersrand, South Africa, he lives in France. Awards include the Cholmondeley Award , Travelex Travel Writer of the Year,  P.E.N Silver Pen and  CNA Prize in South Africa for his memoir, White Boy Running . He founded , in 2007, the Franschhoek Literary  Festival in South Africa. His libretto for A Distant Drum, a musical drama, premiered at Carnegie  Hall in 2014
