Christopher Maclehose

Christopher MacLehose was for 20 years the publisher of Harvill Press and thenestablished MacLehose Press with Quercus and later with Hachette, and in 2021 foundedMountain Leopard Press, an imprint of Welbeck. He has spent his life in publishingbringing literature in translation of the highest standard to Anglo-Saxon readers. He has published literature and crime fiction in translation from more than thirty-five languages, and prize-winning from many cultures. He was given the London International Book Fair Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006.

Fellows are nominated by peers and elected by our Council of writers – our governing Board. Being elected a Fellow of the RSL is a lifetime honour. This role gives them the opportunity to support other writers, readers and the future of literature. The RSL connects writers in the Fellowship to one another, and to a wider readership.
