Damian Barr is a writer, broadcaster & salonnière. Maggie & Me, his account of coming of age and coming out in Thatcher’s Scotland, was named Sunday Times Memoir of the Year. His debut novel, You Will Be Safe Here, reveals South Africa’s hidden history ranging from the Boer War to now; a R4 Book at Bedtime and Observer Book of the Year. Since 2008, his Literary Salon has celebrated emerging and established voices. He champions readers and writers.
