Elizabeth is an award-winning author and broadcaster. Her five novels include Scissors Paper Stone (which won a Betty Trask Award), The Party (a Richard & Judy Book Club pick) and the Sunday Times bestseller Magpie. She has also written four works of non-fiction, including How To Fail (which was born out of the chart-topping podcast of the same name) and Friendaholic, the Number 1 Sunday Times bestseller. She has judged the Women’s Prize for Fiction, the TikTok Book Awards and served as chair of judges for both the BBC National Short Story Award and the Sky Arts Literature Award. Elizabeth is the creator and host of the How To Fail podcast and
the founder of Daylight Productions.
Fellows are nominated by peers and elected by our Council of writers – our governing Board. Being elected a Fellow of the RSL is a lifetime honour. This role gives them the opportunity to support other writers, readers and the future of literature. The RSL connects writers in the Fellowship to one another, and to a wider readership.
