Gregory, Jane

Jane Gregory

Elected: 2022

Jane Gregory started her career in publishing working for publishers in contracts and rights. She set up as an agent in 1987 and with her then business partner Lisanne Radice quickly became well known for handling authors of crime, thrillers, psychological suspense, historical and literary fiction.

Among her achievements she was on the Virago advisory panel, and co-founded:-  Women in Publishing, The Women’s Prize for Fiction, and Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, Harrogate (where she is currently on the programming committee).

On a more frivolous note, she produced, directed and co-wrote several publishers’ pantomimes.

In 2018 Jane merged her company with David Higham Associates to ensure that her clients would be well represented long after she has gone

Fellowship Election Process

Fellows are nominated by peers and elected by our Council of writers – our governing Board. Being elected a Fellow of the RSL is a lifetime honour. This role gives them the opportunity to support other writers, readers and the future of literature. The RSL connects writers in the Fellowship to one another, and to a wider readership.
