Poems for Peace competition – Highly Commended: Ciéra Cree Drury

Contributor/s : Ciéra Cree Drury

tranquility

people wonder why i spend the years
staring at the same old lake.
just the same man,
paintbrush in hand,
by the bridge on his own again.

again (yes, again)
because i do this frequently.
you see, people like myself don’t really care
for small talk or
shallow company.

i’d much rather stand by the water.
a place, at least one to me,
that i feel could handle my depth.
