British publishers, and readers, tend to be wary of short stories, especially when they come from authors better known as novelists, or poets. But there is a new wave of enthusiasm for the short story, and passionate argument from practitioners that it is not the poor relation of other forms of writing. Jackie Kay, Shena Mackay and Candia McWilliam discuss short stories and read from their work.
