Pandemic Blues

By:

I slowed down
To mum’s
Pace

On our walk
On Saturday
Afternoon,

No longer
Striding ahead
With youth’s impatience.

I slowed down
To mum’s
Pace

And truly listened
To her
Blues.

I slowed down
To mum’s
Pace

And realised
It’s been hard for
Her too

With the fear
Of the maskless
And

A microscopic assailant, and the fear
Of illness that squeezes your gut,
So you just stay
Confined
To the home.
