Dulce Maria Cardoso in conversation with Rosie Goldsmith

Dulce Maria Cardoso is a Portuguese writer, who spent her childhood in Luanda, Angola after her parents moved there when she was an infant. Her family returned to Portugal following the Angolan War of Independence in 1975. She studied Law at the University of Lisbon and worked as a lawyer before becoming a full-time writer. Her debut novel Campo de Sangue published in 2001 won the Grand Prize Acontece. Her second novel Os Meus Sentimentos (2005) won the EU Prize for Literature and O Chão dos Pardais won the Portuguese PEN Club Award and the Ciranda Award. Her fourth novel The Return tells story of a young boy's return to Portugal folloing the Angolan War of Independence. Her latest book is Tudo São Histórias de Amor  (2014). Cardoso’s works have been published in France, Spain, Argentina, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Brazil.

Dulce will be in conversation with journalist and champion of European literature Rosie Goldsmith.

This event is part of a European Writers’ Tour, an initiative proudly delivered by EUNIC London in partnership with the Royal Society of Literature and the British Library. The programme is supported by the European Commission Representation in the UK and EUNIC Global.
