We’re teaming up with Black to the Future and Warner Brothers to offer our members and fellows an advance screening of THE COLOR PURPLE, Blitz Bazawule’s joyous screen adaptation of the Broadway phenomenon, based on Alice Walker’s seminal novel.
Watch it with us one week before it hits cinemas nationwide at the gorgeous Garden Cinema. Dress code – purple and fabulous, whether head to toe or a touch. There’ll be purple chocolate specially commissioned from Gabu Chocolatier to enjoy as you watch or to take away.
After the screening, there’ll be a live recording of an upcoming episode of Josh Rivers’ podcast Busy Being Black, in which he and BttF Founder Irenosen Okojie will be discussing the queerness of Alice Walker and afrofuturism, celebrating Black queer stories and liveliness across space and time – in arts, culture, literature and beyond.
