Write Around the World is a free digital literacy programme developed by the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) in partnership with the RSL. It explores six genres of literature via video workshops, each led by an RSL Fellow. Over the course of the programme, young people will hone their skills in journalism, poetry, letter writing, short story writing, scriptwriting and essay writing.
In this video, actor and RCS Ambassador Ayesha Dharker introduces the programme and shares some of her thoughts on the role that writing plays in our lives.
The full programme includes modules from Imtiaz Dharker on poetry; Kerry Hudson on letter writing; Nikita Lalwani with scriptwriting; Blake Morrison on journalism; Susheila Nasta with essay writing; and Irenosen Okojie for short-story writing. Each module includes a short video and task, which can be completed in any order, either in class or independently.
