As I walked

By: Isadore Auerbach George

About The Poem

This poem is about the three months I spent separated from my partner during the lockdown, on opposite sides of London.

The Poem

As I walked, paced the pavement
Hot dust and disappointment
I remember clearly your the sound
Of your voice, fingers wrapped round
Mine and shadow over me
As you walked there beside me.
But though the voice was there
It travelled through wires, not air
You were elsewhere
And not there that summer beside me.
